Fresh as a Daisy
This is a post I had to do, given that Spring/ Summer is fast approaching. If like me, you change scents with the season, then keep reading to learn more about my two hot picks for smelling great this summer.
I feel like this fragrance range needs no introduction. With the start of spring just a day away it's finally time to take it out of hiding. It is the one and only Marc Jacobs Daisy.
As you can see from the picture, I have the original Daisy eau de parfum as well as the Daisy eau so Fresh eau de toilette which is a recent addition to the line.
Both are divine fragrances and worth every penny in my opinion.
First up is the original eau de parfum. I have the 50ml bottle and you can find it in most department stores, boots and the likes so it's really easy to find. From what I can remember it retails for roughly £50 a bottle which is reasonable given the size of the bottle and the fact that it is a parfum and not an eau de toilette which means the scent should in theory last longer, meaning you need to use less of it.
The blurb says the scent is, 'violet, gardenia and jasmine with vanilla, musks and white woods'. Now, I don't know about you but that means very little to me seeing as I'm not particularly clued up with fragrance notes.

If I were to describe it, I would describe it as a fresh floral scent which is perfect for spring/summer (although I wear it all year round). It's strong enough for the scent to linger on the skin for a significant period of time but it's not overpowering in any way. The strength of the scent also means that less is more so despite the price looking a little on the steep side, I feel it offers good value for money. Two or three sprays on the pulse points is all I generally need for around 8 hours of being scentsational.
On to the packaging.. Well, just look at it! It's simple and chic and would look fabulous on any girls dressing table. The perfume has a simple black glass bottle with a gold daisy topper. The topper really makes the bottle for me; it represents the scent and is a really unique finishing touch.
The only downside I have is however the packaging. Despite it being totally gorgeous, it is also totally impractical. The bottle itself is bulky and the topper is actually made of plastic so I feel that after a while in my handbag, the daisy's aren't likely to be intact. I don't think removing the topper would be that useful either as I've had too many experiences of the little silver spray top falling off leaving me with fragrance stuck inside a bottle (I've since solved this and will show you just how in a future post).
Now they always say, save the best till last... So I did.
This beauty is Daisy eau so Fresh and I can't stop raving about it. It is hands down the most beautiful, delicate, floral/fruity fragrance and the bottle is just so amazing there are no words.
The bottle in the picture is the 125ml one and it costs approximately £60 (sorry for the approximates, I bought mine at duty free and the online prices really do vary for this one). It is a humongous bottle, so much so that I've barely made a dent in mine and I purchased it last August.
On to the scent itself, the blurb says it is the original version of the Daisy eau de toilette but it has hints of raspberry, pear, plum and rose (for me I don't really get the scent of the original Daisy when I spritz it, to me it's like a completely different fragrance, but not in a bad way at all).
To me, this is a much more delicate fragrance and it's definitely more fruity than Daisy which for me is purely floral. Unlike the other Daisy fragrances, I reserve this one for spring/ summer as the fragrance is too delicate for the harsh winter months as it fades far too quickly. That's just me though and there's nothing to stop anyone using it all year round. That said, it is still a gorgeous scent fitting of the coming summer season. It's like sunshine and rolling hills all bottled up.
As I mentioned previously, the bottle is beautiful. It's a sturdy clear glass bottle, with the same topper as the Daisy eau de toilette as it has rubber daisys. This topper has a combination of pink, yellow and white daisy's on top which only adds to the easy on the eye design. It's a striking but subtle design and despite its impracticality I love it.
As mentioned, they aren't great for lugging around (especially as this one is a whopping 125ml bottle) so this isn't one for on the go, and with the design you can't just throw it into the bag and go. However this isn't the most significant problem with this particular scent. Due to it being an eau de toilette it's longevity isn't fantastic, which isn't helped by the fact that the scent is so delicate. It fades far too fast so you really need to reapply to keep the scent with you all day. So although it's super pretty it can be super frustrating when it's gone five minutes later (especially if you're like me and like to smell your perfume on you for a while).
Well there you have it, my two picks for spring/summer!
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post!
