Revlon Black Cherry Lipstick / F.O.T.D

Hello all, hope you're wrapping up again this freezing cold weather!

With the nights drawing in and with Christmas right around the corner I'm feeling rather autumnal, so I thought a review of this lipstick would be rather apt.

For me it's my current go to and it's always a head turner. I will admit it took quite a lot of nerve to leave the house wearing it the first time. Against my pale complexion, Black Cherry really turns this lady into a vamp.

Colour wise it's a deep plum. The bullet looks a scary dark brown colour but don't be fooled! It's the perfect shade for autumn winter.

Here's how it looks on....

The other products I used as part of this look are...

  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation - Ivory
  • Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Light/Fair mixed
  • E.L.F Mineral Infused Mascara - Black
  • 17 Shine Control Loose Powder
  • Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - Black Cherry

The things I like about this product..

  • You can sheer it out for a subtle look or you can build the colour for a bold night time look. It also leaves a pretty stain which you can perk up with some balm or gloss. Because of this, I think it will work for the majority of skin tones so any one can give this a go.

  • The packaging itself is rather sleek. A simple black tube with a gold rim; not a lot to complain about in that department.

  • With Revlon being a drug store brand it's relatively cheap... £7.49 which is roughly half the price of a MAC lipstick and you get a decent amount of product too.

  • I think that after price, the best thing about drug store brands is that they are readily available in store and online so more or less everyone has a chance of trying and enjoying the products.

Things I don't like....

  • Dries my lips out like crazy... It's not a very moisturising formula and I'd prefer it to be a bit more... Because it dries over time it also makes the finish look strange and unattractive. Dry, cracked lips are definitely a no no.

  • I find it difficult to maintain the look on the go... Running around University, I don't want to be needing mirrors and lip brushes and I need all those to keep this lipstick looking lovely.

Overall it's a nice product but it needs a lot of maintenance in my opinion and lips needs to be supremely moisturised prior to application.

If applied well it does look lovely and I will find a way to make it work for me on a day to day basis. I need this colour in my life too much to not make it work!!

Are any of you lovely lot fans of this cult lippie? Do you have any tips RE my last issue.... How can you make this a low maintenance look?
