Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins: The Review

by - 18:30:00

Hey guys, hope you're all having a wonderful day!

Today I have another high end skincare review for you and it's a product that I've fallen head over heels for. Origins products haven't ever really been on my wish list but after reading too many good reviews I finally placed an order a few months back for their infamous night cream and I haven't looked back since.

As a brand, Origins pride themselves on producing 'high performance natural skincare powered by nature and proven by science'. In non beauty speak they avoid all nasty chemicals to help knock your skin into shape. For those of you who are new to my blog you'll be aware that I am trying to take as natural approach as possible when it comes to my skin and their night cream has been a star product in my beauty arsenal for sure.

Packaging

I'm going to come out and say it - I LOVE the jar. It's brown plastic with a white lid which makes it very medical looking. It looks great on my shelf and it definitely looks more appealing than a high street pot of cream which is normally either a garish colour or plastered in nonsense.

This is all very superficial though as I always say looks only matter to an extent, if the product doesn't work then you've essentially paid for a very expensive ornament.

Luckily this gem doesn't disappoint on either front.

Product

The smell. It's divine. If you're a fan of chocolate oranges you're going to absolutely love this night cream. It also lingers on your skin which really helps me drift off (not sure whether this is an intended effect but I nevertheless enjoy it).

Right, onto the nitty gritty. This is a mineral enriched renewal cream so it aims to resurface the skin by morning so you wake up glowing. Here's the blurb straight from the Origins website....

'Put dullness to rest. Wake up radiant & refreshed. Now nature's famed night cream is newly fortified with a system of time-released resurfacers plus Vitamins C, E & H, minerals & moisture-rich replenishers. While relaxing aromas lull you to sleep, skin sloughs away dry, dead layers. Helps the appearance of dullness. 98% of those who tested it agreed - used regularly, skin was renewed and refreshed in the AM. Helps the slumber deprived wake up on the bright side of the bed. So why face dull skin. Sleep it off tonight.'

When I first had a glance over this as you can imagine I was excited by such a promise. During a Clinique consultation a while back I was warned against resurfacing products as they tended to exaggerate my dry patches due to the concentration of acid used to 'slough' away the dead skin cells. I ignored this seeing as the rest of their system was a load of rubbish and I'm glad I did.

The cream itself is off white and quite thick when you first pick some up on your finger. I first thought it would take a lot to cover my whole face but the cream sort of melts a little on your finger and spreads beautifully. The result - amazing hydration with a pea sized blob. Perfect. I was especially pleased at this as Night-A-Mins retails for a whopping £33 for 50ml  (here).

This product hydrates my skin so well and it really does leave me with brighter skin in the morning. It's an absolute miracle worker I tell you. Now as some of you may know, I have normal/combination skin so I was umming and ahhing about whether to get the normal or oil free version. I was advised by a lovely lady at an Origins counter that the normal is fine for use by most people unless they have oily or acne prone skin which sounds sensible.

I might have oily skin in areas but I can tell you that this product has never broken me out or clogged my pores which is fantastic as my cheeks really need that little bit of extra hydration.

Summary

I really can't say enough good things about this night cream. I am known for being quite fickle when it comes to beauty products and I very rarely repurchase a product but I know I'll be back for more of this when this pot is empty. It has totally transformed my skin. I no longer have any dry patches and some life is starting to come back into my complexion. I wouldn't say it's changed my life just yet, but the results have definitely boosted my confidence. Make-up free days may be not too far off if my skin keeps on the straight and narrow.

So there's my take, what's yours? I'd love to get your opinons on this one. Also if you have never tried Origins products but are curious I'd definitely encourage you to get down to your local counter. The staff are always lovely and they are really good at providing samples as they are one of the few brands who actually understand that £30 plus is a bit of an investment for most of us when it comes to a moisturiser.
