Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask: Worth the hype?

by - 22:05:00

This product has been on my radar for a number of years now. It's always highly spoken of and people proclaim it has changed their skin forever. With those good reviews in the back of my mind and my skin a little out of control this beauty ended up in my possession.

As is the case with most cosmetics products this too makes big promises and so far so good. It claims that the Charcoal will 'draw out deep dwelling pore-cloggers'; the White China Clay is supposed to 'absorb environmental toxins' and the Lecithin 'dissolves impurities'. Sounds like a gift from god right?

So far I think so...

The product itself is a blue/grey gel that glides on like a dream. What I love most about the formula though is that when it sets, it doesn't get stiff and uncomfortable like most other clay masks. While it does set firm, my skin doesn't feel pulled and I can appreciate that. Others I have used have been so tight on my face that it's been borderline painful so props to Origins for such a lovely formula.

As you can see it makes you look like quite the stunner but I have to agree with every man and his dog that this mask really does work. Before this I used one from Superdrug which was good but this one does more. My skin looks visibly clearer and my oiliness is less of an issue for the few days between applications ( I tend to use it twice a week at the moment).

The one thing I will say is that it hasn't totally unclogged my pores (sorry for the TMI). I still have stubborn blackheads and I believe it will take more than a mask to eliminate them but we shall see.

Overall, if you're looking for a deep cleansing mask then this will be right up your street. If you're on a budget I would highly recommend the Superdrug one I've mentioned before but for a pamper, masks don't come better than Origins ones.

Worth the hype? Absolutely, it works for me and I'm seeing results. I'm a huge fan of most Origins products and this definitely hasn't disappointed me.

I'd love to hear your mask of choice so feel free to leave me links and comments below. After all it's nice to have options.
