Summer Beauty Haul
When the seasons change, so should our beauty regime. Or at least that's what I told myself to justify my latest purchases.
One is brand spanking new, the other a cult classic. Either way you need both in your life for the warmer months!
They say save the best till last but they're both so good I'd be here forever. With that in mind I'm going to start with what's new on counters... It is the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet foundation. Billed as the oily gals answer to Vitalumiere Aqua this beauty has taken the bloggersphere by storm and for good reason.
I'm a long term fan of Vitalumiere Aqua, it's the perfect my skin but better base but it's not without its flaws. As I have combination skin I do find it tends to make me look extra glowy in a not so flattering way so it's best saved for cooler days. With the mercury rising Chanel's latest offering couldn't have come sooner.
It's sheer coverage with a demi-matte, soft focus finish I think. It just blurs everything nicely and corrects the redness in my complexion amazingly. This weekend has been particularly hot in England and after two thorough road tests I can say that without a doubt this stuff is amazing.
I'm not an oily mess after a few hours and there's no fading or patchiness at all. It even stopped me getting sunburn during a particularly long day at the Zoo. Love, love, love it.
Practical things aside did I mention the packaging? Swoon. The slick black squeezy tube might not be the stuff of dressing table dreams but it's ever so chic and practical to boot. While I like to Vitalumiere Aqua packaging, I find the all black look even more enticing. Definitely one to put on display I think.
Another trivial thing is the scent. Divine. I know people aren't necessarily fond of or fussed about their foundation having a scent but you just can't help but sniff this. It's gloriously fruity without being so in your face that you notice it on your face all day. Not important but definitely a treat for the nostrils.
I've rambled enough but I just have to let you guys know how seriously impressed I am with this foundation. I think this has cemented for me the fact that when it comes to base, high end is best.
Summer face sorted, it's time to focus on smelling sweet this summer. My next purchase comes around every summer like a tropical fairy but I've never gone for it until this year. I am of course talking about Estee Lauders coveted Bronze Goddess skinscent. Did someone say summer in a bottle?
I'm useless at the whole notes malarky so here's what it smells like straight from the horses mouth. 'A sensuous, sun-drenched blend of Bergamot, warm Amber, Tiare Flower and Vanilla combined with delicious creamy Coconut.'
I'm sure someone out these has picked up these notes but to me it smells like delicious, coconutty suncream. It's tropical without being overly sickly (like the Escada summer offerings) and I like that. This is the type of scent I imagine a jet setter spritzing on while enjoying the delights of the French Riviera. An expensive holiday in a bottle one might say.
I have nothing like it in my collection and I'm glad I finally bit the bullet and made it mine. One of the main reasons I put it off summer after summer was because of people saying the longevity wasn't great. Constant reapplication isn't something I'd be keen on. The occasional spritz here or there sure but if it disappears in the blink of an eye it wouldn't be for me.
Suffice to say it's not at all like what people say. On me it lasted a good few hours and it
was a delight to get a whiff of it every now and again. It's also a treat to look at... That gold bottle screams glamour does it not!
I can see both of these being summer staples from here on out and I'd highly recommend both of them. If you're interested in either you can find the foundation here and the perfume here.
I'd love to know what you guys are chopping and changing this season so feel free to let me know in the comments down below or leave me a link.
