Victoria's Secret Make-Up Look

by - 14:56:00

Today's post is inspired by perhaps the most beautiful women to grace the planet. I am of course talking about the Victoria's Secret Angels. They always look beautiful and sexy, but most importantly natural. I'm not the kind of person that feels comfortable wearing a full coverage foundation, contour and a red lip so it's nice to get that vibe whilst looking like myself.

I'm stating the obvious here but as the look is relatively low coverage, good skin is essential. I recently posted my skincare routine so if you're looking for tips and products be sure to check that out. Skincare done it's time to focus on the eyes.

While my lotions and potions are sinking in, I like to use the time to do my eye make-up. This ensures that products are absorbed and that any fall out doesn't affect my base make-up. To start I always prime my eyes using Urban Decays Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I don't know how it does it, but my shadows never budge when I use this.

Primer done it's time to start carving out and shaping the eye with shadow. As this is a natural look I avoid using shimmers and my go to shades are all in the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. I start by applying 'Walk of Shame' all over the lid and follow this up with Naked 2 in my crease. Basic shaping done it's time to add a little smokiness. For this I take my brush into both 'Naked 2' and' Faint'  and blend into the outer v of the eye until I have a darker haze. If you feel this isn't enough feel free to go back in with 'Faint' by itself and deepen it up.

Now you've done these steps to finish the shadow simply run 'Naked 2' along the lower lashline and you're done. For daytime I'd add lashings of Benefit's They Real and be done with it but for nighttime it's time to break out the liner. To amp up the drama I apply a thin line of Rimmels Scandaleyes Liner in Black and then smudge it out either using my fingers or a smudger brush. Make sure to buff the liner towards the lashes and outwards a little. Your lashes will instantly look thicker, blacker and definitely sexier.

Eyes done, I bring my attention back to my skin. The Angels are renowned for their glowy, flawless skin so it's all about adding luminosity and correcting any imperfections. To get the glow I apply a few stripes of High Beam around the whole of my face and blend. If you have no other issues you could definitely stop here but I have pores that I like to treat with Benefit's Porefessional. For me, these two give me the best possible canvas to work with and they're perfect for this look.

In terms of foundation, you don't want to be reaching for anything full coverage. Allow freckles and such to shine through and opt for a tinted moisturiser or low-medium coverage foundation. My personal preference is Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua, it has the right amount of coverage for the problem areas on my skin and looks totally undetectable when blended out.

Unlike these gorgeous models I'm not perfect so I do like to go round with a concealer and pinpoint conceal any blemishes I may have. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer has my back for this; it's flawless, full coverage and lasts well on me. Once I've set with the Nars Light Reflecting Setting Powder it's time to get the sunkissed look the Angels do so well.

For me, nothing does this job better than Nars Laguna applied with the Smashbox powder brush. These two are a match made in heaven. I apply a small amount to the high points of my face (i.e. where the sun would naturally hit the face) and blend well. The result is a golden glow so good people will believe you've been on vacation. If I'm feeling lazy I might stop here but I've really been enjoying applying a pop of pink on my cheeks. I don't know what it is, but it instantly makes me look healthier. Nars Deep Throat is my go to for this look. It's the perfect peachy pink that pulls everything together.

Now that I've done all my face bits I can finally go back in and attend to my brows. Nothing too fancy here I just apply everything with a little lighter hand. Products are still the same however, the Brow Wiz and Brow Drama. Dream combination.

Last but not least it's time to perfect the pout and neutral/pink is the Angels go to. When I want something natural and not too put together you know a Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector isn't too far away. I don't know whether it's because the stores have an abundance of pink but I picked shade 01 (the pink one) to finish off the look.

And that's it... Follow these sort of simple steps and a VS Angel you should be (well not quite but we can all dream right?)
