Winter Skincare Essentials
When it's cold outside, my skin is the first place to show signs of it. It goes from mildy troublesome to a dull, blotchy mess and I'll be using everything I own to try and get it back to it's best. With that in mind I thought I would share you the products that have made a difference to my winter skin woes this season (in particular this past week or so).
Before I start rambling about products I thought I'd share with you the most obvious fix. Drink more water. Water makes up a large portion of our bodies and yet most of up probably don't drink enough of the stuff. Put down the coffees and sugary drinks and get glugging water. Stick to it and you'll see a difference in your skin in no time at all.
Moving back into bathroom cabinet territory I'm going to start with a cleanser I picked up recently. I've long been a fan of the Superfacialist Cleansing oil so I thought I would try their Rose Hydrate cleanser. While the scent isn't for me at all, this thick cream cleanses my skin beautifully with no tight feeling afterwards at all. If you're quick you can snag it for half price at Boots.
Next up I just wanted to talk a little bit about facial oils. I've been using both the Kiehls and Clarins ones and both have really helped my skin turn itself around. While they might not be as instantly gratifying as a nice thick moisturiser they do a great job minus the greasiness. If you don't already have one in your routine I'd highly suggest checking one out.
If you want a really great traditional moisturiser look no further than the Kiehls Ultra Facial Moisturiser. I got this generous sample as part of a gift set and I'm almost out of it. It promises no miracles but it delivers light, effective hydration and it's suitable for all skin types. Safe to say I'm a big fan and the full size is top of my shopping list.
If you're in need of a more intense moisture boost give an overnight hydrating mask a whirl. My pick of the bunch is Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. Apply after your nighttime skincare routine, toddle off to bed and wake up with the glorious skin you've always wanted. If you struggle with breakouts I'd suggest grabbing a sample of this at a counter before committing to the full size.
My last essential is an oldie but a goodie for me. I have sensitive eyes and the Winter really aggravates them. The result is a dry under eye and exaggerated dehydration lines underneath too. Clinique's All About Eyes eye cream tackles these issues head on and makes a visible difference for me. It is a tad on the pricey side but a little goes a long way and I really think it's worth the splurge.
And those are my Winter essentials. As I've said before these are products that work for my combination skin so I urge you to go out and find what works for you if these don't. After all who doesn't look a good hour or so spent sauntering around the aisles of Boots.
