Clarisonic Mia 2: Take 2

by - 07:50:00

I feel this week is going to be all about second chances. I'm revisiting products that either didn't work, or didn't wow and seeing if my opinions have changed. Today I wanted to talk about the Clarisonic Mia 2 (£120).

Not too long ago, facial cleansing brushes were the thing to have. They promised the skin of your dreams and they apparently did all the work for you. Fast forward a few months, and we were stashing them away and reaching for flannels.

I cracked on with this new regime, but always felt pangs of guilt when I looked at my Clarisonic. I spent all that money and it was just gathering dust. Till yesterday that is.

After returning from travelling my skin has been trying to re-settle. It's not sure whether it's coming or going and it needed a helping hand I think. In the space of a week it's been very dry; quite oily and I've had a few breakouts also. Maybe the flannel isn't cleaning as effectively as I would like. So last night, out came the Clarisonic.

Back in the day, I used to use a foaming cleanser with my brush. A big no-no I know, but it worked for a little while. But then it all went horribly downhill. I wasn't using it morning and night or anything, but my skin just hated me when I used it.

Last night, I massaged a pump and a bit of the Skinesis Ultimate Cleanse into my skin and then went in with the brush. I was surprised as it wasn't as harsh as I seem to remember, and my skin wasn't anywhere near as angry as it used to get. I had a bit of pinkess, but I get that with a flannel, so nothing to be concerned about really.

More importantly, my skin felt clean. I wash my face morning and night religiously, but it hasn't felt this clean since I last used my Clarisonic. So it's safe to say, that I'm glad I brought it out of retirement. I won't be using it all the time, but for a once/twice a week deep cleanse I think it's going to be brilliant.

I know these types of products have a fair few naysayers, but find what works for you and ignore the rest. Skincare is highly personal and there really isn't a one size fits all solution. I've realised in the past few months, that's it's important for you to do you. Your favourite blogger might love an enormous cleansing routine, but your skin might loathe it. You only get one skin, so be careful what you put on it.

And that's my refreshed take on the Clarisonic Mia 2. Things can always change, but you can be sure I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, if you have been considering one, give it a whirl. If you don't try, you'll never know.
