Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide - Week 1 Update
I've mentioned this before on my site, but I'm currently working my way through the guide again. Seeing as I've started from day
one again, I thought I could actually chronicle my progress for the first time.
For those of you who don't have Instagram or just haven't come across this guide before, I'll give you a little bit of information. It's a 12 week programme combining circuits, stretching and cardio. It's a good all rounder that offers to aid weight loss and help improve strength and tone. As the title would suggest, it helps you get your dream bikini body and lets face it, who doesn't want that?
The first week eases you in, but it certainly holds no prisoners. I've been keeping fit for sure, but the circuits still kill me. They're short and sweet, but she really packs it in. Afterwards, you're a sweaty mess but the sense of accomplishment is great. On top of the three circuits this week, I've also been on three runs for the cardio element. It's low intensity cardio so technically you could also go for a nice long walk, I just like to get a sweat on. With six sessions of hard work done, I reserve Sundays for stretching. Without a doubt you should expect to be sore by Sunday. I'm like a broken rag doll today. Everything hurts, but stretching will help with this.
As you would expect, my body hasn't changed this week at all physically. The first time around it took a good six weeks for me to notice a change. Mentally however, I feel much more positive about the guide this time around. I'm tackling my workouts head on, eating right and I feel fantastic.
Speaking of eating, while I don't use her meal guides, you definitely have to change your eating habits for real results. My first time around I ate better, but not well enough and I didn't have that wow moment. Right now, my meat; sugar and dairy consumption is close to nil and I feel much better for it. I've got bags full of energy and my workouts are really benefitting from my dietary changes. Not saying you have to follow what I'm doing, but just check yourself and see what changes you could make.
Overall, this first week has turned me back onto exercise. I love the workouts, I love how I'm feeling and I'm exciting to jump into week two tomorrow.
If this sounds like something that could work for you, she now has an app as well as the e-books. Pick whichever works for you and get cracking. I personally prefer the e-book because there are no subscriptions and it's yours to keep and use as you like.
