Kiko Extra Sculpt Waterproof Mascara
Where to start with this one. As much as I'd like for this to be a balanced review, I'm afraid it's going to be overwhelmingly negative.
Kiko recently had all their mascara's on offer for £3.90, so I figured I'd pick one up to try. The Extra Sculpt Mascara's are the newest and most expensive of the bunch, so surely the best ones I thought at the time. The waterproof version came home with me that day, and we've been at odds ever since.
My biggest bug bear with this product is the size of the wand. It's ginormous, so combined with my tiny eyes the result was one big mess. Even when I was really careful, I'd end up with splodges everywhere. On bare lids the clean up isn't an issue, but when I had shadow on it was a total nightmare. I think the main reason behind this is that the brush isn't at all tapered. Most wands come to a point at the end, making it easier to get to the inner corners. This one remains massive and is quite frankly a hazard when trying to get to those hard to reach areas. If you have bigger eyes, this may well work for you but the wand alone has me running for the hills.
Wand aside, the formula isn't that great either. It clumps, smudges, flakes and doesn't hold a curl on me. For want of a better word, it's pretty useless. The online blurb couldn't be further from my actual experience with this product. Where my lashes should've been 'well defined and clump free' they were spidery and just awful. I felt like I could've been made into a meme they were that bad. It also mentions it being a buildable formula and this is where I laughed. I dabbled with this claim and the result was just shocking. It gave me the appearance of having around four eyelashes. So much clumping you guys.
I always hate being so negative, but this product had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. It's rare that I find a product that's just useless, but there will always be a day and apparently it's today. I'm just glad I didn't pay full price, because then I would've been mad. I think £8.90 is an outrageous price for a bang average mascara. Head to your nearest Maybelline stand and I guarantee there will be something much better that costs way less. Safe to say, I wouldn't recommend, won't be repurchasing and Maybelline's Lash Sensational is still my favourite.
In the meantime, have you guys ever bought a product and just hated it? Is this a common thing or do I just have poor judgement when it comes to product picking? Give me guidance lovely people!
