My Skincare Routine

by - 14:16:00

A while back now, I mentioned that I thought skincare routines had become too intense. At one point I had oils, serums and all sorts spilling out of my drawers. I applied them diligently but never got the eureka moment I'd been longing for.

When models are asked what their skincare routine is, they often do very little. If it works for them, why could't it work for me. So here we are now, I've a slimmed down, model worthy routine that works. It really goes to show that sometimes less really is more. This is just my experience though, so if you've an extensive regime that works stick at it.

So what do I do now then?

Mornings are now easy peasy. I use the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cleanser to cleanse (duh). It does foam ever so slightly, but it actually hasn't dried my skin out. After cleansing I apply a bit of the Clinique All About Eyes cream, and of course La Roche Posay's Anthelios XL 50+ Comfort Cream. These hydrate my skin and provide a great base for any make-up I might be applying. And that's it, done for the mornings.

At nighttime, I use the Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover to get rid any of eye make-up ( hate to state the obvious there) and the Skinesis Ultimate Cleanse for any face make-up.  To actually cleanse my skin I go back in with the Ultimate Cleanse in conjunction with my Clarisonic Mia 2. I massage a pump of the balm into my skin; wet the skin and then get to work with the Clarisonic. Once it's done beeping around, I splash my face with water and move onto moisturising. If you're wondering why I skip eye cream, it's because I read that it can make your eyes puffy by morning, not ideal. Anyways, for hydration I use a few drops of whatever oil I'm using. I'm currently finishing up the last of my Clarins Lotus oil and I love it.

And that's all there is too it now. Toners and serums have pretty much been abandoned and you know what my skin isn't missing them at all. One thing I have missed off is my beloved Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask. I used to use this weekly without fail but now I use it as and when needed. It could be twice a week or once a fortnight. I'm all about going with what my skin needs now versus a set regime and it seems to be paying off.

So there you have it, a stripped back routine that works. I'd love to know if anyone has had similar results after simplifying their routine. At the moment it seems to be that more is more, I'd like to know what you guys think. Is your routine simple like mine or chock full of products, let me know down below!
