NYC Beauty Haul

Gloomy pic aside, todays post is a good one. I'm currently stateside, so a trip to the drugstore was inevitable. While Sephora is most girls mecca, I much prefer a trip to Duane Reade. For those of you who have never been, it's pretty much like Boots but with a few different brands.

In terms of different brands, the only thing I picked up in that category was a palette from Wet and Wild. I chose their eyeshadow trio in the shade 'Walking On Eggshells'. This palette has quite the cult following so I just had to try it out. At $3.49, if it's as good as people say it is, it's a real steal.

My next two bits come from a brand we have at home, just with a different name and a cheaper price tag. I am of course talking about Covergirl (Max Factor in the UK). The entire line is currently buy one get one half off, so I picked up two mascaras. The first one I chose was the Lash Blast Volume mascara (waterproof). I'm a big fan of Max Factor's False Lash Effect Mascara, and I believe this one is the same thing. Only difference is this was $11.49 and the Max Factor one costs £10.99. So as you can see, they're so much cheaper in the states.

To go with that, I went for the Clump Crusher by Lashblast mascara. I literally know nothing about this product, but the wand is similar to the Maybelline Lash Sensational and I like that one. It promises volume and separation, and that's pretty much all I'm after. Fingers crossed it delivers.

Last but not least I picked up two Essie nail polishes. I had to restrain myself when I got to this display in store. I could've easily come back with 10/15 polishes, but for now I've got two (though there's still time!). Of the shades available I picked two that I've not seen in the UK for a long time. The first is 'Romper Room' which is a pale, pinky nude shade. Sticking along those lines, I also got 'Topless and Barefoot'. Compared to 'Romper Room' this has an ever so slight beige tone to it. It's a warmer pinky nude I'd say. Either way, they're different enough to justify owning both! In terms of price, these cost me $8.50 each which makes them slightly cheaper than in the UK. As they aren't that much cheaper, I'd say stick to shades you can't get at home because there are always offers on in Boots/Superdrug.

And that's my little haul for now. There's a Duane Reade on most corners, so no doubt this little pile will get bigger before I leave, so check back for those buys. In the meantime have a great week!
