What's On My Face: New York Edition

by - 13:54:00

It's only a matter of days till I head back to the big apple, which means I'm currently in packing mode. For me, New York is definitely a place where you want to look incredible no matter what time of day it is. The locals have the low-key glam look down to a tee, so I try to do my best to fit in.

As the weather will be more favourable this time around, I'm focusing on glowy skin with a touch of pink for some colour; think Serena Van Der Woodsen. It's a quick routine, but the result is really pretty and fresh.

For my base, I'm sticking with my trusty Estee Lauder EE Cream. It has SPF30, covers everything I need it to and is a doddle to apply. For my under eyes and anywhere that needs extra coverage, I'm taking the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer. A few stripes blended in and my base is done.

To make my eyes bright and defined, I'm actually taking my Tom Ford 'Nude Dip' palette. I'm so precious about this palette because it cost an absolute fortune. It's been dipped into on special occasions, but now it's permanent it's time to enjoy it. It was ttsandra that inspired me to get it back out; the look she achieved was right up my street. I basically use the peachy shade all over the lid, with a mix of the two bottom shades blended into the outer corner/crease area. To finish the eyes, I just apply two coats of the Lash Sensational Intense Black Mascara. Now this mascara has started to dry out a little, the effect is magical. My lashes are lengthened and separated, without the clumps. Love it.

In order to tame my brows, I'm using my trusty Brow Artist Plumper. To use I simply use the wand to brush my brows upwards. This makes them look much fuller, while still keeping them looking natural. A true wonder product.

Last but not least, it's time to get some colour on my face. As you can see, I'm sticking with pink hues. I find these to be both flattering and easy to wear. With some colours, you need to reapply and when I'm on the go I don't want to be doing that.

On my cheeks, I've chosen my Nars blush in the shade 'Love'. This is a tea rose shade that gives the skin a pretty, natural looking flush of colour. It's very much my natural blush shade. Sadly it was limited edition, but I'm sure there will be a shade similar within the line.

To finish off, I've chosen Tom Ford's 'Spanish Pink' for my lips. This is my absolute favourite pinky/nude. It's a joy to wear and it might be the only lipstick I'll ever need. Bold claims I know.

Well, that's it. As you can see, there's not really that much to it. When I'm away, I like to spend as little time as possible faffing in the bathroom. I need it to be quick, simple and easy to maintain. I think this look nails that. For now, it's time to sort out what I'm going to wear. The real nightmare begins!
