Day To Night Make-Up

It's finally the weekend people. I don't know about you, but I find that going out can be a bit of a pain in the ass. Last minute plans require quick fixes, so today I thought I'd walk you through one of my favourites.

Today I wanted to walk you through my work to weekend make-up routine. It's basically what I do when I'm in a bind and have to get glam on the go. Lets start with my basic face shall we?

My base of choice at the moment is a self-concocted tinted moisturiser. I mix some of my face cream with a splodge of both foundation and illuminator and whack it on. As you can see from the pictures it's very light coverage, but I don't like mask like make-up so it suits me. Yes it shows redness and blemishes, but we're all human.

To complete the complexion, I've been using the Chanel's Soleil Tan De Chanel to add a bit of warmth, and then going in with the Nars 'Orgasm' blush. It's subtle, but very pretty.

This next part may surprise you, but I actually put effort into my eye make-up. Once I've primed using the NYX HD Eye Primer, I crack straight into my Urban Decay Naked Palette. I apply 'Toasted' everywhere below the crease and then blend this out into the crease with a mix of 'Buck' and 'Naked'. To finish I use a smaller shadow brush to buff a bit of the crease colours onto my lower lash line. The result is a sultry; diffused, warm brown shimmery eye. Why stop there though?

I've had the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Black Bean' since last year, but have only used it twice. For some reason I was feeling brave today so gave it another shot. The last time it smeared and smudged and I hated it; today however that's exactly what I needed. I took the pencil and ran it around the top and bottom lashes, making sure not to go over halfway. Smudge the pencil out and it creates a really easy, hazy cat-eye effect. As you wear it, it smudges further and it looks even better so stick with it. To finish off I curled my lashes and whacked on some of my trusty Maybelline Lash Sensational Intense Black Mascara. Job done.

For brows it's back to my Brow Wiz and Brow Artist Plumper. Nothing too exciting, but they do the job. Last but not least I applied a bit of Charlotte Tilbury's 'Bitch Perfect' onto my lips. It's neutral and nice, so you can't really go wrong.

Okay, we're now going to fast forward to 5pm. The working day is over and it's time to hit the town. For me, evening make-up is where I like to express myself. Smokey eyes and bold lips are the order of the day, so it's time to transform ourselves.

The easiest way to change up your look, is to change your lip. Carrying around a truck full of shadows is never ideal, so pop your fave bold lip colour in your bag. For my little switch up, I used the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen with the Kiko Smart Lip Pencil in 710. It's bold, beautiful and has a chance of staying in place for most of the night.

If lips aren't your thing and you prefer to enhance your eyes, get your liner out again. For me I'd probably retrace my earlier lines, maybe go in a bit further and blend out again. Of an evening it's fine for your eyes to be as dark as the night, in the office not so much, so embrace it. If you're feeling particularly daring, smudge it out a little lower on the bottom lash line.

So there you have it, my 'desk to disco' tips as Charlotte Tilbury would say. Super quick and super simple. Have a great weekend guys!
