L'Oréal Pure Clay Detox Mask

This is one of those products I was adamant I wouldn't purchase. Pretty much every blog has covered them, and I just assumed they were going to be another overhyped product. So what changed my mind? Well it's simple, they were out of stock both in store and online, and then I wanted what I couldn't have. Buyers regret if you will, that I hadn't acted sooner.

Anyways, they eventually came back into stock and I went for the Detox one. I've used the Origins Clear Improvements before and liked it, so I thought I would see if this was a dupe. More on that later though, onto the product.

Packaging wise, I'm really on the fence. I like the whole mint green and glass combo, but in terms of function it's a nightmare. When you screw the lid off, there's a stopper to keep the product fresh. Great idea, but it's so fiddly and it does get pretty messy. If it were up to me, I would've used a tube instead; far more practical in my opinion. But that's just me. It looks nice, but sometimes you'd prefer function over looks.

As we all know, packaging isn't too important, it's the product, so lets talk about that. It contains a mix of three clays (kaolin; montmorillonite and ghassoul) combined with charcoal. This mixture is supposed to absorb excess oil; tackle imperfections; draw out impurities and clarify the complexion. Isn't that what we all want?

I purchased this because I felt like my skin needed a deeper cleanse. I use my Peter Thomas Roth Mask weekly, but it doesn't really do much for imperfections and oil control, so this seemed like a good addition. Used once a week also, I figured this could act as a reset button for my skin.

I'm pleased to say that I tried this last night and I was quite impressed. It's very similar to the Origins one, so if you don't have the budget for that, grab this. l applied a thin layer to clean skin, left it for 10 minutes and removed it with a flannel. The results really spoke for themselves. As the mask dried I could see the gunk being drawn out around my nose area. Gross, but also totally satisfying because it's proof that it's working. The most surprising thing was that my skin wasn't at all red. The Origins one definitely made my skin flushed after use, but I didn't experience that with this. For a cheaper product to not irritate my skin was an absolute win. Aside from that, my skin also felt baby soft. I was honestly so impressed. As with most skincare things, it takes time to see full results to I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, you can find it here

So there you have it. I love it when a product surprises me, especially when it's a budget item like this. Have you guys ever been surprised by how well a product performs (budget or luxury)? Let me know your favourites down below and have a great day.
