Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Skin Defence Daily Moisturiser
As you all know, I'm a huge fan of the Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Cleansing Oil. It's a product I go back to again and again, so when I ran out of my day cream I thought I'd look to the line for a replacement. After a quick whip around in Boots, this is what I came out with.
I'll start off by giving you all the information from the brand themselves.
"Vitamin C+ Advanced anti-ageing care with a high performance pro-collagen Vitamin C active for a more youthful, healthy glow and a smoother, retexturised skin appearance.
Transform the appearance of skin texture and replump fine lines and wrinkles with this light, silky smooth cream empowered with moisture-binding Hyaluronic Acid and anti-oxidant rich Ferulic Acid. Boosted with a next generation Vitamin C that on one hand promotes collagen synthesis and on the other increases skin density, the cream works hard to help hydrate, protect and smooth the appearance of wrinkles."
On the tube itself it states that this cream should result in "more luminous & hydrated looking skin" and offers "UVA/UVB protection". It's that last little detail that really bothered me. You see, it states that it offers protection and yet there's no mention of an SPF level anywhere. I e-mailed the brand and they said it offered 5.5% UVA/UVB protection but it's never been tested in terms of SPF. If anyone knows what that means, please let me know in the comments. As of right now, I've no clue what that means so I'm basically taking it that this product doesn't offer a decent level of sun protection. There are ingredients in there which deal with UVA/UVB rays but as it doesn't say SPF on the packaging, can you really trust it? I'm not going to take any chances personally. As you all know, SPF for me is an absolute must so it's already not something I'd repurchase.
However, that's the only thing I can find fault with. If it had SPF it would be a really great product. The cream itself is rich but not at all heavy. It feels thicker than others on application but it sinks in within seconds. With Winter fast approaching, I think my skins going to enjoy that aspect of it. Other than that, it smells great and it's packaged well. I just wish they'd get some SPF in there and I think it'd be a permanent feature in my stash. C'est la vie eh? Sometimes you can't have it all, but for £16.99 I really think you should be able to get the basics right.
I'm going to work my way through this tube but I'm definitely still in the market for a great day cream. If you've any suggestions, I'm all ears!
UPDATE (14/12/16): I reached out to the brand who said they hadn't researched into the level offered, hence why they just refer to UVA/UVB protection. For me this wasn't really a satisfactory answer as I think it's still potentially confusing to consumers. On a completely unrelated note, this product eventually started breaking me out so I tossed it. The short of it; it's definitely not for me and I wouldn't recommend it at all. Take your £17 to one of the French pharmacy brands instead; you can thank me later!
