Morning Skincare Routine

It may be the new year but there are some things that don't really change. Skincare has always been a passion of mine and it shows no signs of slowing down as the years pass. My routine right now is fairly basic but it's effective and it agrees with my skin, so I can't really ask for anything else.

I know you probably can't tell from the nondescript bottle but I'm still using Garnier's Micellar Water as my morning cleanser. It's been a fantastic little hack and I'm so glad I ignored 90% of the internet and gave it a try.

Another thing that hasn't changed is my toner. La Roche Posay's Serozinc will be in my routine for as long as I live. This stuff is truly fantastic and if you do struggle with shine, it'll be your best friend. My only wish is that they did a bigger bottle because I go through them so quickly!

This next item you may be surprised to see, but hear me out. When I used the Hydraluron Moisture Jelly for the first time, we didn't get along. I tried it as a gel moisturiser and my skin didn't like it at all. As a result I cast my other pot aside and pretty much forgot about it until I ran out of the actual serum. I didn't want to go out and spend another £25 on the serum, so I subbed in the jelly in its place. I'm pleased to report that it appears to work in exactly the same way. I apply a blob a little bigger than a pea before moisturising and my skin practically drinks up whatever I apply next.

While a face serum has been the norm for me for some time, I added in an eye serum late last year. I managed to snag Hylamide's SubQ Eyes serum from Boots during their Black Friday sale and now I've used it I'd happily pay full price for it. I don't know how it does it exactly but somehow my eyes are improving with each use. It's kind of a miracle, so I imagine if you do have eye 'problems' this might be a good product to pick up. I'm going to whack up a full review soon but for now I really rate it, and most other things by Deciem for that matter.

After applying the serum, I like to let it sink in for a little while before going in with my trusty Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment. I've talked about this product before and it still works well for me so it's still a keeper. It's definitely a basic formula but when you want hydration I think it's brilliant.

To wrap things up I've been using my Drunk Elephant B Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel followed up with my La Roche Posay SPF. When I added an SPF back in, I was pretty sure I'd break out from using too many products but so far so good. The gel provides a lightweight, hydrating base and then when you go over with the SPF, the result is this almost heavy feeling layer that leaves no trace. There's no shine; white-caste; nothing, which really surprised me. For now, I truly think they're a dream team.
