New Releases and Old Favourites: Haul

You know when you pop into Superdrug for one thing and end up with a basket full? Yesterday was one of those days and for once I'm over the moon with everything I picked up.

I couldn't not kick things off with L'Oreal's new Infallible Total Cover Foundation. Ever since seeing it all over Youtube, I knew I had to get my hands on a tube and it proved to be quite difficult. The shade Porcelain has been sold out pretty much everywhere I've tried, but I managed to snag one in the tiny Superdrug in my town.

This foundation promises full coverage with a weightless feel and let's face it, who doesn't want that? As I was going out last night, I gave this one a try so I've actually got some first impressions to share with you.

The first thing that surprised me was the texture; it's a liquid/mousse hybrid situation. As you can probably imagine with this texture, it is a matte foundation: very matte in fact. I put a few dots on my face and I actually used the L'Oreal Foundation Blender to blend it in. The sponge I wouldn't recommend at all. It doesn't get soft and bouncy like my Real Techniques one and it made the application process so difficult. The foundation however I'm really impressed with.

I wouldn't say it's full-full coverage but it definitely makes my face pretty flawless. As far as the shade Porcelain goes, it's a teeny bit too pink but once I've bronzed etc it's barely noticeable, so all in all a good match. As I said before though, this for me is more matte than I'm used to. After I'd blended the foundation in, I had this sort of dry/tight feeling which was something I'd never experienced before. It did eventually pass, but if you're not a fan of matte skin I'd probably skip this one.

As I mentioned earlier, I wore this foundation for an evening out and it performed brilliantly. I skipped setting powder and spray to see how well it lasted by itself, and it was still there after food, drinks and a late night nap (no hint of shine either). If a foundation can outlast all that, I'd say it's a winner. As ever though, this is only a first impression, so check back for a full review in a few weeks time.

The L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper (Medium/Dark) is the whole reason I even popped into Superdrug. I've been using the NYX Control Freak Brow Gel for a good while now and I'm just not feeling it anymore. I honestly don't think it does anything more than a clear mascara would, so for £5.50 it's a bit of a rip off. Prior to purchasing that, the L'Oreal one was what I used and I absolutely loved it.

It's a tinted gel with fibres too, so it really fills out your brows while holding them in place. Now that I've got it back in my makeup bag, I don't know why I ever strayed. Safe to say I highly, highly recommend this, so if you're in the market for a brow gel, give this one a whirl.

You might be wondering how I've used up so much of this in a day, and well I haven't. I actually picked this up at the beginning of the week. Vaseline's Cocoa Radiant Body Butter is my absolute favourite body moisturiser, so much so that I go through around two tubs a month. It's currently better than half price at Superdrug so I stocked up and am already making a dent in them. This body butter is absolutely brilliant and I've tried my fair share of them. Out of all the ones I've tried ( Soap and Glory ones included), this just can't be beat. It's intensely hydrating, luxuriously thick and most importantly it doesn't cost the earth. After a hard day or a good session in the gym, there's nothing better than massaging in a good dollop of this. Heavenly.

As much as I wanted to open with this one, I thought I would save the best till last and trust me this is an absolute gem. It was 3 for 2 on all L'Oreal so to make up my three, I obviously got a lipstick (not that I need any more). This one is part of the new Color Riche Matte line and it's the shade '633 Moka Chic'. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this lipstick. It's the perfect matte, pinky/brown nude for me and I might love it more than 'Bitch Perfect' by Charlotte Tilbury. Strong words I know. The shade is super flattering; the matte formula is really comfortable and it magically makes my lips appear plumper without the use of a lip liner. Now I've just got to hope it's not a limited edition situation, whelp!
