Haul Ft. The Ordinary & L'Oréal
Sometimes shopping is a necessity, and for once these are all bits I 'needed'. That's what I'm telling myself anyways.
The most exciting things I picked up are two new bits from The Ordinary. I've tried a few things from them before and I've never been disappointed, so when I saw these two I knew I had to pick them up.
After my poor luck with the Pixi Glow Tonic, I had reservations about picking up the Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. With the Pixi one, I never saw results and by the time I'd finished the bottle I honestly felt cheated. All these people online had raved about it and for me it was a big fat fail. I put it down to the fact that maybe Glycolic Acid wasn't for me and swiftly moved on to other products, which proved to be more successful. Fast forward to two weeks ago and The Ordinary's offering popped up on ASOS and I just couldn't resist. I've used it every night since I received it, and touch wood it's working really well for me. My red marks are fading quicker, my skins texture has improved and overall I feel my skin looks a bit brighter. Suffice to say, for the price I am super impressed.
The other thing I grabbed was The Ordinary's AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. This 10 minute exfoliating facial treatment has had some of the most amazing reviews I've ever read online. If they're all to be believed, then this will give you the skin you've always dreamed of from the very first use. I've only tried it once and I can confirm that my dream complexion is still a work in progress sadly. I could definitely feel it working though (sensitive skins beware) but I didn't rinse it off and have no pores and a J-Lo glow. I'm hoping that over time I might see some kind of improvement but time will tell.
As those two are skincare bits, I'm going to stick with them for a good two/three months and give you my final verdict then. Until then, if you are interested in anything from The Ordinary brand as a whole, I've yet to have a bad experience so give them a go. Their products are reasonably priced and actually deliver. Win!
The other items are the new-ish L'Oréal Infallible Blush Paint Sticks. It was 3 for 2 at Boots, so you know I had to grab all the shades (as shown above). As I've been going for a more natural, glowy make-up look recently, I've pretty much stopped using powder products. That left a hole in my make-up bag for some great cream blushes and hence I came across these ones. There's not that much about them online and the testers were pretty rancid, so I blind bought them and prayed they would be good.
And they are (thank God). The stick format is super convenient, but it is the formula that has impressed me the most. They're creamy; pigmented (light hands at the ready), super blendable but most importantly they actually stay put. I leave for work at 7am most mornings and these last right up until I take my make-up off at 6-7pm at night. No blush has ever lasted that long on me, especially not a cream one, so these really have been incredible. Now I'm just hoping they add highlighters and bronzers to the line. I hope you're listening L'Oréal?
